Q&A with Ella Langley, On Tour Now with Randy Houser

Armed with her unique blend of country and rock, Ella Langley grabs her audience from the first guitar lick. She took her unapologetic authenticity to Nashville in 2019 and locked in her first publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing Nashville in 2021.

We had a chance to chat with Ella from the road before she hits the stage opening for Randy Houser at the Hult Center on March 10.

Hult Center: How did your manage creativity during the pandemic? Learn a new skill?

Ella: I spent a lot of time songwriting with my roommates and friends. I am in the house full of other artists and we were super lucky in that we have a room that we only write in. Ha! I learned how to groom my dog!

Hult Center: Did you write new songs?

Ella: Yeah, absolutely. Wrote A LOT.

Hult Center: How did you get into playing and writing songs?

Ella: The second I was born, I was around music. My entire family is pretty musically inclined and it was a part of our everyday life. I picked up the guitar when I was 14 and then got into songwriting right after highschool.

Hult Center: What was the first song you played on guitar?

Three Little Birds by Bob Marley.

Hult Center: What is your favorite thing to do on tour (other than performing)?

Ella: Exploring the different cities that I have never been to and meeting all of the fans from all walks of life.

Hult Center: What’s it like being on the road again after the pandemic and now on such a big tour with Randy?

Ella: It’s great to be playing live shows and meeting all of the fans all over. I couldn’t have asked for a better first tour. This is definitely one that I will reflect on and be thankful for through my entire artist career. Randy and his crew are top notch and incredibly talented. My band and I have had a lot of fun out on the road with him and building that relationship.

Hult Center: Are you guys performing a duet or anything together on this tour?

Ella: Yes! Randy invited me to come up on stage with em to duet “Whiskey Does” after the second weekend. That has been a highlight of every single show.

Join us at the Hult Center on March 10 to catch Ella Langley and Randy Houser on the main stage!
