Beyond the Figure
Karin Clarke Gallery

Karin Clarke Gallery, in coordination with the Hult Center for the Performing Arts, is pleased to present an exhibition of figurative works by some of Oregon’s most prized artists: Rick Bartow, Mark Clarke, Margaret Coe, Adam Grosowsky, Robert Schlegel, and George Johanson.
Gallery Hours:
Tuesday – Friday noon – 5 p.m.
Saturday noon – 3 p.m.
During normal exhibit hours admittance will be from the Gallery courtyard doors.
The Gallery will also be open the hour before Hult Center shows and during intermissions for ticketed patrons whenever possible. During these times, admittance will be through the Hult Centers Main Lobby doors.

“I paint our ancestors so today people will know our past to tell our stories in the future.” – Don Bailey
Each of the portraits, narrative paintings and mixed media works in this show includes a juxtaposition of images. Central to each work are images from 19th and early 20th century photographs of Native Americans, layered with color and other images to give life and meaning to what the photographer often intended to be a static document of a “vanishing race.”
Viewing times:
Tuesday-Friday: noon-5 p.m.
Saturday: noon-3 p.m.

Future Shows in the MJCR
Thank you to those of you who have expressed interest in showing your visual art within the Hult Center. The Hult hosting curations by the Karin Clarke Gallery, the Mayor’s Art Show, and White Lotus Gallery is our first step in learning more about the process required and the support we can provide the visual arts community. We acknowledge that in this learning phase there is a burden placed on artists as we meet new challenges for our internal process and we have been intentional in working with our Gallery neighbors as they shoulder that burden and help us learn. Our intention is to use this phase, from now through to the end of May 2027, as a learning opportunity and then we will be in a position to expand access to more artists come later in 2027.
