Eugene Vocal Arts Ensemble: In Poetry and Song
Soreng Theater
“When poetry sings: Dreams, Woods, and Night”
Some of the finest American composers have expressed the music within the words of some of the finest American poets. Featuring Frostiana, Randall Thompson’s set of seven poems by Robert Frost, the superb voices of the Eugene Vocal Arts chamber ensemble also perform Eric Whitacre’s expression of “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” Both Samuel Barber and Morten Lauridsen sensitively set
James Agee’s enchanting poem “Sure On this Shining Night.” And Rosephanye Powell reaches out to all of us through Langston Hughes’ poem “To Sit and Dream.”
