Community Corner: February 16, 2022

Hello and welcome to the Community Corner, where we cover all things education and community engagement. My name is Jen Cumberworth and I manage our Education and Community Engagement program here at the Hult Center. I’ve been with the Hult Center for 4 years after spending nearly a decade in theatre and education in Chicago. I am so excited about all the work we are doing inside and outside of the Center, and I will be dedicating each one of my blog posts to highlight some amazing programs, both new and old.

We have a lot of big and exciting things in the works, and one I am particularly passionate about is our new Hult Center Community Resource Group. This group creates and holds space for historically marginalized and/or underrepresented communities to gather and converse; empowering individuals to participate, share knowledge and support the art they want to experience; thereby making the Hult Center and the programs safe and accessible for all.

This is a new initiative, and we are thrilled to build this program, implement changes and grow with this group. Applications (linked below) are currently open through March 15th.  The group will consist of 5-7 members who will serve a 2-year term, and they will meet quarterly with different Hult Center Staff. Current group goals and guidelines for membership are outlined below.

We look forward to starting this group and hearing the many different perspectives in our community. If you are interested in joining this inaugural cohort, or have any questions at all, please feel free to email me at HultEducation@eugene-or.gov . I always love hearing from the community and hope to talk with you soon!
