Before Abigail performed an amazing set on October 30 we were fortunate enough to capture this performance of “Blue Blaze” with one camera, in one take.
“Blue Blaze” is a lovelorn lament in the tradition of classic country music. I wanted it to sound like a loving homage to country queens of old, complete with dusty barroom piano, pedal steel, acoustic guitar, bass and drums. An original tune, it draws lyrical inspiration from the classical French love song “Plaisir d’amour” (a version of which I also recorded for the extended edition of Anniversary): The joy of love is but a moment long / The pain of love endures a whole life long” – Abigail Lapel
