10x10 Series: McKayla Marie
This concert is apart of the Hult Center for the Performing Arts new 10 X 10 series that is focused on highlighting incredible rising artists.
Country artist, McKayla Marie, fell in love with writing the second she learned how. With a notepad and a pencil, she spent hours on end creating stories and singing. She went on to learn guitar, and from that point forward, she was hooked on singing and songwriting. For years, McKayla signed up for every open mic and talent show in town to play for anyone who would listen.
Most recently, McKayla moved to Nashville to be surrounded by others who share the same love of music and to focus on her songwriting. With musical influences such as Garth Brooks, Phil Vassar, and Miranda Lambert, McKayla uses story-telling and catchy melodies to create her own individual sound.
In 2018, McKayla released her first EP, “Open Road”, followed by upbeat single, “Young Love”, in 2020 which was inspired by her own love story.
Nowadays, you can find McKayla playing in Nashville as well as stages all across Oregon as she continues to chase her passion. She has also been writing and recording with plans to release new music later this year. McKayla is passionate and continuously strives to refine her artistry.
