Hult Presents

Join Ballet Folklórico Ritmo Alegre as the professional Southern Oregon youth troupe performs traditional dances of Mexico.

Audience members will note the influences of square dancing and polka on dances and costumes from Baja California Sur and Nuevo Leon - areas that were settled by Polish and German immigrants, while the dances of Jalisco (capital Guadalajara) are more reflective of Spanish colonial times and dancers wear brightly colored and be-ribboned skirts - each comprised of 26 yards of fabric and more than 150 yards of ribbons!

Dancers will also perform the popular Revolucion dance, which honors to long-ignored contributions of women to the 1910 revolution that led to the establishment of the constitutional republic of Mexico.
